Document Delivery Subcommittee Meeting

PRESENT: Barb Hale, Carolyn Tassie, Lisa Ahlstedt, William Debord, and Nancy Mollette
Absent: Mary Ann Dewey, Wayne Onkst, Mike Binder, and Miko Pattie
Barb and Carolyn co-chaired the meeting.
Review of the draft RFP for the Courier Service written by the Courier RFP Work Group: Carolyn Tassie, Barb Hale, Mary Ann Dewey and Wayne Onkst. Several minor revisions were suggested, primarily for clarification, but no substantive changes. The revised draft will be given to Miko to present to the Steering Committee. Someone from CPE will also review the document from the legal standpoint.
RFP for Courier Service-Still to do:
1. Determine which of the 56 initial libraries will have pick-up and delivery stops 5 days per week and which will be on-call stops.
2. List of the 111 public for the appendix listing libraries in the secondary group.
3. Ask Miko about the 2nd proposed change in the overview section.
4. Addition: After daily and on-call sites are identified in the 56 initial participating institutions, this status can be changed due to traffic.
The second part of the discussion dealt with the proposed budget for the CVL project. Miko left word that the Steering Committee is concerned about the amount of money in recurring expenditures in the budget. There is not so much concern about non-recurring expenses. The DD Committee decided to prioritize the fund requests to provide our perspective to the Sept. 2nd CPE meeting.
The Committee's recommendations were:
1. Cut the Universal Borrowing Support Funding (a study on the possibility of implementing universal borrowing)
2. Cut The ILL support (funding to help libraries who would have increases in demand due to the CVL)
3. Cut ARIEL hardware and software maintenance (to be absorbed by the participating libraries)
The Committee agreed that recurring funding for the Courier Service was a priority.
