Collections Subcommittee
1. Introduction:
The October 22nd minutes were approved. Larry Besant named Bill Richardson and Sandee McAninch as co-chairs of the Digitization Project. Four new members were added to the Subcommittee to provide expertise in the areas of state information and digitization technology. Clara Keyes and Marcia Myers were invited guests due to the overlappping interest of the Kentuckiana and GIA Subcommittees.
2. Revised Budget:
Miko Pattie handed out the revised budget dated November 18, 1998 and approved by CPE. One-time cost items and the preliminary 1999-2000 plan were discussed as she explained each line item. The Kentuckiana representatives provided insights on key differences and problems perceived by their group and GIA. The Consultant should be able to assess the collections and delineate more clearly the issues and possible solutions. The Kentuckiana Subcommittee will share the GIA Listserv and a more involved discussion of mutual concerns needs to become active on the listserv. Miko is working on a composite CVL timeline and will post it.
3. Digitizing Project:
The revised Project task list was reviewed, discussed, and re-revised. Bill Richardson will post the new revision on the listserv.
4. U.S. and Kentucky Electronic Publications:
Beverly Daly handed out the federal websites list and a subject approach much like Miko developed for the Collections Group was suggested and also that government sources be integrated with the other as well. Bill Richardson had posted the Kentucky list and everyone is invited to submit additional sources for both categories.
5. Next Meetings:
The meeting adjourned at 12:30 p.m. Two meetings were scheduled. December 17, 1998 at 10 a.m. in the KDLA Conference Room to discuss the job description for the Project Manager.
The second meeting is scheduled for January 7, 1999 at CPE, 10 a.m.
