- Want to spend money by June 30, 2001
- On our plate for next fiscal year:
- Training of special collections librarians - how to use it and how to enter data.
- Local implementation
- Dealing with outsourcing contract
- Eric would like to have IFB contract by early 2000-2001 FY
- Institutional objections to sending original materials:
- Shipping - security
- Handling - security
- Being out of the building - inaccessibility, loss of control
- Some institutions may be willing to send originals some may not.
- Can we distinguish levels of original material?
- Material preparation will be a work load for institutions
- RFP
- Write RFP for microfilm only
- Write another for originals
- To send out film there should be benchmarks for film quality
- Formula for frames (1000/roll)
- Eric & Mary Margaret working on check list for quality - will run past Becky Ryder, also Charles Robb
- Phase III
- Newspapers - OCR scanning
- Becky's books
- Mary Margaret's group looking for gaps in content.
- If you have an image or something. Based on collection survey. Both topical and geographical (where the collections are in Ky) coverage have gaps.
- Specs
- Can get hard copy on an institution by institution metadata item level when reasonable
- Might also mention Jeff Suchanek provided Mary Margaret Bell with a more extensive list of microfilm held by UK.
