Technology Subcommittee Minutes

6/1/00
University of Louisville

Present: Tari Keller, Elsie Pritchard, Gary Flanagan, Nelda Sims, Cindy Page, Paul Fuller, Perry Bratcher, Susan Brown

Acquisitions Training:

There was much discussion about the Acquisitions Training and Ac 2000 Preview.

The group went on the assumption that Ac 2000 Preview was probably basically a road show. We need to know how many can go. Also, do we have two sessions at UK and two at UL? The group remembers this from the last meeting. We seem to remember that Endeavor suggests 25 people per session and (since this is a hands on session 2 per machine. Is it true that it is a hands-on session and only 25 per session? If the sessions are limited then how many from each institution should go?

After seeing the Ac 2000 Preview the group would decide whether or not they felt the need for more in depth training for their sites.

The group thinks that these Preview sessions could be given before the Endeavor Users Group Meeting in the Fall. Would they be open to the entire region? The group felt that if they were free (not part of the sessions from our contract) then they should be open to the region.

Endeavor Users Group Meeting:

The coordinating committee will meet this summer to discuss content and dates. The group is Perry Bratcher, Roberta Kirby, maybe Cathy Reilender and Miko Pattie. Rose Davis at Western might be interested.

Training Days:

From the last meeting we believe that we have
15 follow-up sessions
3 SQL sessions
10 technical sessions
15 extra sessions

Have we heard yet from Endeavor about what they can offer (a response to our request list from the meeting with them)?

The group might be interested in having 300 certification for the people who sit around this table. Endeavor doesn't usually do advanced training here; they do them there. Could we get Endeavor to take this to Kentucky? This could count for two tech training days since it's usually done there.

Fiscal Period close:

Both the manual and the FAQ say to do the back-up but mixed message on whether you can restore just the fiscal file or restore from the total back-up. Does everyone need to stop transactions to roll-over? If this is so, then the group needs to schedule them so work is not lost.
Has Miko heard from Linda?

2000 Upgrade:

First Choice: December 18

We will get continuous OPAC up for this. We should be back in operation on Dec. 21.

Assuming continuous OPAC:
Jan 2nd as 2nd choice (Nelda needs viewing of all modules. Will continuous OPAC allow us to look at fines?)
MLK day as 3rd choice

Keith is ready to order the test server so that we can implement continuous OPAC.

Patches:
