Virtual Library Reference Librarian

The Council on Postsecondary Education, an agency of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, seeks friendly, courteous, and knowledgeable individuals to assist with the on-going operation of the Help Desk of the Kentucky Virtual Library (KYVL). The KYVL is a statewide electronic library created to support the Kentucky Virtual Library (KYVU) and lifelong learning opportunities for citizens of the Commonwealth. This position will staff the KYVL Help Desk to provide assistance to students, faculty, librarians, and the public via telephone, e-mail, web form, and print correspondence. This position will perform reference duties; conduct training; collaborate with libraries throughout the state on KYVL services; and provide leadership on assigned special projects.

A master's degree in Library Science and two years experience in the library and information field is required. The applicant must have general reference library skills and expertise in electronic resources, including the World Wide Web. A working knowledge of PC hardware and software products in a networked environment is essential. All staff of the KYVU and KYVL must be able to work independently and as a member of a team. Must be able to work with ambiguities and in a dynamic environment. Some travel may be required. For more information please visit http://www.kyvl.org.
