Adult Education Resource DB Minutes

Subcommittee Charge:

The charge of the work team is to build a database for adult educators and learners.

Framework:

Extensive and productive discussion ensued regarding defining the framework of the database (i.e., the table of contents). The first mock up will include the following twelve options in the navigation frame: reading, mathematics, writing, social sciences, science, health, technology, life skills, personal management skills, student assessment, GED, and program management. The short-term goal is to have the base of the framework settled and to have four or five resources identified under each of the headings in time for the February 14 CPE Strategic Planning Team meeting.

February 9 Meeting:

Either Susan Brown or Miko Pattie will attend the February 9 meeting of the CPE PD Work Team to report on the progress of the adult education resource database subcommittee.

Next Meeting:

Wednesday, February 7, 1:00 p.m. (location TBA but likely to be the Council on Post-Secondary Education in Frankfort)

Assignments:

• Susan Brown will prepare a mock up and post it on the KYVL adult education work group’s workspace. Once created, Susan will announce that the mock up is ready for review via the listserv and will post the URL.
• All subcommittee members are to (1) review the mock up and note suggestions on the listserv; and (2) review the resources in the library of the PD forum for the purpose of identifying the heading(s) under which each resource appropriately belongs; send comments to the listserv.
