KCVL Information Literacy Committee Meeting
University of Louisville, Ekstrom Library
April 19, 1999

Present: Hannelore Rader (chair), Miko Pattie, Emily Werrell, Stacey Nickell, Rebecca Turner, Edith Hanson, Jill Buckland and Tom Kmetz, from the committee, as well as Chad Kearsley and Patrick Bragg from Collegis. In addition were Dirk Griffin and other Instructional Technology consultants from the University of Louisville and Rae Helton from the Ekstrom Library's Collaborative Learning Center.

The composition of each modu

component / unit / page - this will give an overview of the module, and will include goals
lesson - main body, which will include examples and practice
glossary *
quiz

*Glossary: To give instant feedback for a word's meaning, you can use the Notes
facility in Collegis. But in addition/eventually there will be a common glossary for all the
modules which will need to have agreed definitions for each word.
Louann may start a Glossary thread on the Forum.

Style:

Recommendations:

There will be a Style thread also on the forum for discussion of upcoming issues
such as color, graphics, etc.
numbering sequences of activities/points to keep students on track;
first 1,2,3 then a,b,c for subsections.
after Overview, go to Start Here to Begin.
The column navigator links have been reduced to just 2: Welcome and Topics.

Deadline

The testing release for the modules is May 15, to be ready for the groundbreaking, May 17.
The Searching Basics module will be completed (by Stacey and Janet) for demonstration
on this day for Faculty Development, and Tues May 18. Let Miko know if you will be able to attend.
It will be at the Marriott East, Hurstbourne Lane, off I64, in Louisville.

No time was set for a new meeting other than the demo at the Marriott.
