Eastlib Hub Support Procedures

Before you call Eastlib Hub Support:

  1. Try pinging the eastlib.kyvl.org server. Collect information on lost packets.
  2. Run a trace route to eastlib.kyvl.org.
  3. Did it make it to the Eastlib server?
  4. If no, and the trace route shows the packets did not get through your local institution's router, contact your local IT support personnel.

If no, and the trace route shows the packets got beyond your local router but not to Eastlib, call 502-564-7576 (Governor's Office of Technology contact desk) and tell them that you are trying to get to the KYVL Eastlib server, you did a trace route and didn't make it to UK.

If yes, go to http://eastlib.kyvl.org:8000/cgi-bin/els and see if the proper Voyager server software is running. If you can't get to the web page, call 606-257-2222 (UK Computer Operations) and ask them to check on the Eastlib server to see if it is up. If the Eastlib server is down, have them contact the on-call person immediately.

  5. After looking at the web page above,

If any required software is not running, call 606-257-2222 (UK Computer Operations) and tell them that you are trying to use the KYVL Eastlib server, you have looked at the Eastlib status page and it indicates a problem with Eastlib. They will contact an Eastlib support person at UK to look into the problem.

If communications look normal and Voyager server software is running, contact Endeavor Support. (8 am to 6 pm it is paid for. Outside that window, the individual institution is responsible for the costs.)

If the Voyager server software is running, but you are experiencing extremely slow response time, call 502-564-7576 (Governor's Office of Technology contact desk) and tell them that you are trying to get to the KYVL Eastlib server and what your problem is. They will check the network and work with UK to try to solve your problem.
