Citing
your sources
Citing a source means to give credit to the author.
Usually at the end of a project or report there is a Reference
List, (or Bibliography) where you have written down every source
you used to make your project. There are many ways to write a
citation, but the one you need to use is this one:
Example:
For BOOKS
Author's last name, Author's first name.
(Year). Title of text. City of publication: Name of publisher.
Fradin, Dennis. (1995). Polar bears.
New York: Prentice Hall Publishers.
For MAGAZINES
Author's last name, Author's first name.
(Year). Title of text. Name of Magazine Volume number
(Issue number). Page numbers.
Mead, Marilyn. (1992). Polar bears'
survival habits. Wildlife 18 (3). 133-140.
For Computer sources
Author's last name, Author's first name.
(Year). Title of text. URL or title of program.
Milbury, Peter. (1997). Polar bears
on the Net. http://www.syr.edu/~pmilbury/bear.html
At the end of your report or project, start a new page with References
(or Bibliography) at the top for the title. Then list all of your
citations alphabetically by the authors' last names.
