But how can you fill out the spaces on those webs and charts?  Try brainstorming.  Brainstorming is a fast thinking and fast writing process, where you just let the ideas in your brain spill out onto your paper.  It's fun to do with other people, but you can do it all by yourself, too.

You have already chosen your topic or problem to solve.  Now write down a long list of everything that you know about that topic.  Just keep going until your brain is empty!  Write about things you know about your topic, things that are related (something like) to your topic, examples of your topic, and things that are connected to your topic.

Here is the bears example.  I could brainstorm and write honey, berries, cubs, Yellowstone Park, grizzly, attacks, big paws, long brown hair, teddy bears, koala bears, hibernate, caves, and so on like that.
