KCVL Endeavor Consortium Meeting with Endeavor
April 28, 2000 12:00 - 3:00 p.m.
- Present:
- Linda Voyles, Jim Miesse (Endeavor); Susan Brown, Miko Pattie
(KCVL); Tari Keller, Dave Block (Eastlib Hub); Weiling Liu,
Cindy Page, Keith Stevenson (Westlib Hub); Perry Bratcher,
Gary Flanagan, Paul Fuller, Roberta Kirby, Elsie Pritchard,
Margaret Willingham
- 1. Upgrades:
- The 99.1 upgrade was reviewed: enabling chron schedule and
cleaning up files afterwards were the 2 issues raised. Dave
asked if the index regen will take longer with UK on board for
the 2000 upgrade. We requested Endeavor to put us in line
for the X'mas/New Year week for the 2000 upgrade.
- 2. Phase 2 Implementation:
- We need to post this on our site. Linda will send this to Miko.
- 3. Add-on Clients for Consortium:
- The established process and costs were discussed. Miko informed
the group about Transylvania's decision not to join the Consortium
for lack of cost benefit. The group agreed that this is still a
viable
approach for small libraries that do not have the resources to
implement a library management system.
- 4. Training:
- Linda informed us that we have the following sessions left from
our contract: 3 SQL days, 15 follow-up days, 10 technical set-up
days, 15 extra days due to miscalculation. The group agreed that
we need the following:
- 4.1. Technical training: chron, pre-bulk, fiscal rollover (Jim to
confirm if transactions can be done during rollover), EDI
setup,
circ email notices, bulk import of vendor files...
- 4.2. WebVoyage -- in Nov.; 4 hours
- 4.3. WebAdmin -- run server jobs via browser (Do we need this?)
- 4.4. Electronic Reserves -- general session on various approaches
- 4.5. Acquisitions 2000 -- 20-24 people; might want it for Oct along
with the Kentucky Endeavor Users Group meeting.
- The group is to go back and solicit input from staff to see if there
are other training needs. Email this info to Miko before May 15.
- 5. Kentucky Endeavor Users Group (KEUG):
- The group agreed with Miko's proposal to establish a stateside
Endeavor users group for all libraries using the system. Members
for the planning group are: Weiling Liu, Roberta Kirby, Cathy
Reilender, Perry Bratcher, and Miko Pattie. Miko will get the
group together to plan for the fall meeting to be held at UofL.
- 6. Additional Software for Consortium:
- There are 4 items on the wish list: test server, citation server.
universal borrowing, and ILL with CLIO. The upcoming
Continuous OPAC requires a separate server. Keith thinks
the test server can accommodate this. Linda will give Keith
the server capacity required for this. Miko will email the group
on costs for these 4 and responses are due May 15.
- Next quarterly meeting will be combined with the KEUG meeting.
